Passaic County to Host Free Veteran Stand Down on May 2, 2026

WAYNE, NJ — The Passaic County Veteran Stand Down will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Passaic County Technical School, 45 Reinhardt Road, Wayne, NJ 07470. This free event is open to all veterans, reservists and National Guard members, and will bring together a comprehensive array of services and resources under one roof.

The Stand Down is designed to serve as a lifeline for local veterans who may be navigating challenges related to healthcare, housing instability, legal matters, mental health and access to public benefits. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect directly with representatives from the VA and other service organizations, receive one-on-one guidance and access resources that can make a meaningful difference in their lives.

“This Stand Down represents our community’s commitment to the men and women who have served our country,” said Director Lazzara. “Too often, veterans face barriers when trying to access the services they’ve earned. This event removes those barriers bringing healthcare professionals, housing specialists, legal advocates and mental health resources together in one place, free of charge. We encourage every veteran in Passaic County to come out and take advantage of what’s available to them.”

Services available at the event include:

VA healthcare enrollment and information
Housing assistance and emergency shelter resources
Mental health services and counseling referrals
Legal aid consultations
Public benefits assistance
VA compensation
VA pensions
Survivor’s Benefits
Attendees are encouraged to bring their DD214 discharge papers, though it is not required to receive services. A free lunch will be provided to all participants.

This event is a collaboration between Passaic County, the New Jersey Department of Veterans Affairs, Catholic Charities – Diocese of Paterson, New Jersey SOS Veterans Stakeholders Group and PCTI.
